THE NUKES

Yesterday on Tuesday the 2nd of April, a band came to our school. They were called the Nukes. They play the ukulele. One of them played the ukulele as well as the drums. There was a group of 25 students from our school who got to go play the ukulele and got to perform in front of the school. Some kids from Russell School got to perform too. And the seniors from Russell also got to come watch. I really enjoyed it when the band played a song about worms and what they like to eat and since I am in the web committee I got to take photos of the people who performed.

DLO

In Te Ngahere we have been making DLOs about doubling and halving. We had to explain step by step how to use the strategy. You use the strategy when there is a big multiplication problem like “4x55. You always find the best number to half or double to make the math problem easier. I think that I did well trying to make my slide presentation make sense. I think that if I worked a bit harder next time  my work would get done faster

sea cleaners

On the 12th of March the sea cleaners came to see us. I learnt that the great pacific garbage patch is so deep that  they can not measure it, I also learnt that a couple years ago they found a turtle with 267 pieces of plastic in side of its stomach. I enjoyed watching the video they made about people cleaning the beach and the ocean, coming back with lots of rubbish bags on their boats. I will pick it up even if it was not mine  as it is being kind to our world.
